LONE STAR LEGEND - GUIDING PRINCIPLES
This program encourages Texas DECA chapters to develop members to be academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, and experienced leaders. Chapters that complete all 3 activities in a guiding principles section will receive a ribbon. Chapters that complete all activities in all 4 guiding principles sections by the deadline will receive recognition as a Lone Star Legend Chapter.
ACADEMICALLY PREPARED
DECA members are ambitious, high-achieving leaders equipped to conquer the challenges of their aspirations.
HOST AN INTRODUCTION TO COMPETITION MEETING
Hold a chapter meeting dedicated to breaking down the competitive events and helping members select one.
COMMUNITY ORIENTED
Recognizing the benefit of service & responsibility to the community, DECA members continually impact & improve their local and broader communities.
PARTICIPATE IN YOUR DISTRICT SERVICE PROJECT
Timing and activity varies by District. Get more information from your District leaders.

NOMINATE A RISING STAR
Rising Stars are up and coming leaders within your chapters. Nominate at least one person to join the program and begin investing in your next chapter leadership team.

HOST A TEST PREP SESSION
Hold a meeting or after school session that focuses on preparing testing compeitors for their exam and sharing resources to help them study on their own.
PARTICIPATE IN TEXAS DECA’S DAY OF SERVICE
Participate in a community service activity as a chapter on Saturday, October 18th.

As a member of the Presidents Club, chapter presidents will learn to support their chapteer, keep your chapter up to date with Texas DECA content, and build their leadership skills.

HOST A MOCK/PRACTICE COMPETITION
Host a session focused on role play and/or presentation practice. Bring in community members, parents, or teachers to serve as judges.
HOST A CHAPTER COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT
Host a community service event with at least 75% of chapter member participation.
PROFESSIONALLY RESPONSIBLE
DECA members are poised professionals with ethics, integrity, and high standards.
GIVE A DRESS FOR SUCCESS PRESENTATION
Chapter officers or advisors can give the presentation, or chapters can invite a guest speaker to give the presentation. This is a great time to discuss DECA’s dress code.
GIVE A PRESENTATION A MIDDLE SCHOOL/ELEMENTARY
Share DECA (or an aspect of DECA) with future members by presenting to a middle school or elementary class. Don’t forget to use all of the professional skills you’ve gained as a member of DECA!
CHAPTER PRESIDENT JOIN PRESIDENTS CLUB
INVITE A BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL TO SPEAK AT A MEETING
Learn about the business/story of a local professional. They can share how they got into the business they’re in and answer questiosn members have about their industry.
EXPERIENCED LEADERS
DECA members are empowered through experience to provide effective leadership through goal setting, consensus building, and project implementation.
ENGAGE WITH DISTRICT OFFICERS
Chapter Presidents (or representatitive from your officer team) attends PCM’s for the months of Sept-Dec.
