Are you ever sitting in a DECA meeting looking around the classroom, and you just think to yourself “Who is that kid?” Wouldn’t it be great if you and your whole chapter were best friends? Well here are a few tips on how you can make it happen!

First and foremost, you will need an abundance of pumpkins; one pumpkin per person to be exact. The social idea is called a B.Y.O.P (or a Bring Your Own Pumpkin party). Each person will carve and/or paint their own pumpkin, and everyone will browse amongst the decorated pumpkins to find a winner. As a marketing strategy, to entice members to come and enjoy the social, have your chapter provide pizza could be provided by the chapter, and the students could sit together and laugh and admire all the different pieces or artwork showcased on the pumpkins.

Another “Fall”tastic idea is to host a Trunk-or-Treat out of their cars. Each car could have a theme and it would be up to the students to execute it. There could be one car per every five people (that are strangers to each other), and the students job would be to execute the theme in the trunk. The students could wait for the student parking lot to clear out, and then they could move all of their cars together to allow the fun to commence. All of the chapter’s students could travel from car to car engaging with each other and munching on some delicious candies.

If those two options don't work for your chapter, all you need for this last chapter bonding idea is a pecan pie; but some chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, and rolls may not do any harm either. The event is “Friendsgiving” A feast among friends to celebrate the fact that they have had the opportunity to cross paths in life. Such a feast typically occurs in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, with the ideal feast time being in the afternoon. What better way to get to know each other than over a Thanksgiving feast? You can laugh as a chapter, eat as a chapter, and grow as a chapter. These are just a few of many activities your chapter could engage in to Fall head over heels for each other, and I hope work for you as well as they worked for me!
