District Updates

Communication is a crucial part of DECA, especially in such a large state like Texas. This page exists to allow everyone to be updated on what is going on in each of the districts. Any advisors or members who feel that their chapter is doing something that should be recognized, feel free to submit a short paragraph by email to achang@texasdeca.org. Mention outstanding chapters, hard-working members, successful projects, and fun events.

More than 100 students from Clements, Bush, Foster, Stafford, and Reagan High Schools participated in the October 4 HBU Entrepreneurship/DECA Mini Contest hosted by Houston Baptist University.  The conference helped the participants develop leadership skills and practice for the District CDC. Cynthia Cooper from the WNBA was the keynote speaker.  Irfan Abji (Oakdale Group, Inc.), Uzo Ogu (International DECA President), Danny Arocha (University of Houston Conrad Hilton), and Woody McAndrew (Fort Bend Assistant District Attorney) were the outstanding speakers at the conference.

District 6 had their leadership conference at Lone Star on October 15th. Approximately 150 students from 8 different schools showed up to participate in a mock competition and learn about leadership through fun games.
