On October 24th, District 6 participated in “DECA Day with the Stars”. Members had the chance to interact with each other, gain important knowledge and skills for competition and everyday life, and watch an NHL game. The day began with members gathering at the American Airlines Center in Dallas for the event. During the opening session, the District Officers discussed important topics such as social media involvement, the Moving 4 Military Kids community service project, and our statewide membership campaign to help make Texas DECA the largest association in the world.
Then, everyone attended exciting breakout sessions throughout the center. These sessions were led by the District Officers and covered topics like public speaking, effective communication, and team-building. The members got a special treat when the Stars’ Social Media Manager talked with them about the benefits and dangers of social media. In addition, the President of Texas Collegiate DECA spoke with members about starting chapters at their future colleges and universities and about how to stay involved in DECA even after high school. After a day full of learning, members were able to relax and cheer on the Dallas Stars hockey team as they took on the Florida Panthers. Although the Stars took a loss, the day as a whole was a win for District 6!
