Standing on a stage hearing your name called as a winner is exhilarating for both the student and the teacher.  We know that the thrill of victory has many faces for different people.  Part of our job as teachers allows us the opportunity to empower our students to believe in themselves and to accept challenges.

Join your fellow DECA advisors from across the state as we work together to prepare our students to set and achieve their goals in DECA. Our first state-wide teacher/advisor competition training session will be held Friday, October 2, 2015, at the University of Houston-Hilton campus from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.  Brycen Woodley from TRI Leadership Resources will be the featured speaker.

New and experienced teachers will gain valuable insights into factors influencing competitive success.  Multiple changes have been made to the competitive events this year.  This workshop will address those changes and identify resources for curriculum.  You will learn how to breakdown performance indicators and incorporate them into event scenarios using the “DECA” technique as well as how to how to prepare a dynamic and effective introduction for role plays and written events.  Competition curriculum includes methods for developing quality visual aids and best practices for written even entries and presentations.
